On Wednesday April 17th the first in-school speech contest of the year was held at our school. In total, fifteen students took part with students from the second-grade of junior high reading a version of Grandma Baba and Her Friends and the third-grade students reading a version of Gon the Little Fox.

I am very pleased to say that the level of the contest was very high this year. I was especially impressed by the students’ prosody and use of gestures. As a judge, it was very hard to choose the winning students.

Eventually, after much discussion, four students from the third-grade and two students from the second-grade were selected to win prizes.

I hope everyone enjoyed the contest and I am looking forward to the senior high speech contest that will be held in June.
