Junior High School English Camp
May is a busy month, with different grades heading out on various school trips, excursions and camps. For our second year junior high school students, the highlight of this month was undoubtedly an overnight English camp held in the Asagiri Plateau area of Fujinomiya. This is an annual event, but, due to Covid restrictions, it had taken place at school the past two years. Thus this year it was once again wonderful to be able to be out in the warm sunshine at the beautiful foot of Mt. Fuji, having fun and speaking English all together.
As in past years, the camp was a mixture of fun, creativity and performance. On the first day, the students played a mixture of games outside and practiced their lines in groups for the next day’s multi-media play. They also designed their own original “eco-bags” with an English message written on it. On the second day, they performed the play in front of everyone, with various prizes being given out for particularly outstanding teamwork, English skills, and dramatic performance.
