昨年9月からカナダに10か月留学している高校2年生から、お便りが届きました♪

The weather is getting warmer, and beautiful cherry blossoms lining the street make me feel the arrival of spring.

気温も暖かくなってきて、通りに咲いている綺麗な桜を見て春が来たなと感じます！

March, I participated in a retreat, which is an event where we communicate and build deeper friendships. I usually spend time with international students at school. The retreat gave me the opportunity to make new friends among the local students through various activities. The retreat lasted from 8 am to 7 pm. We visited a cottage in the woods and enjoyed several activities. We were divided into groups to play games, write letters of appreciation to our friends, and make S’more cookies over a fire. It was a long day and eventful day, filled with valuable experiences. During the group discussion, we shared our thoughts on topics like life and the things we’re grateful for. This experience helped me reflect on how fortunate I am to have such a supportive environment, along with the kindness of my friends and family.

3月はリトリートに参加しました。リトリートとは学年の行事で交流を通して、お互いの関係を深める行事です。私は学校では留学生といることが多いので、リトリートは色々なアクティビティを通し て､現地生の新しい友達を作るのにとてもいい機会でした。リトリートは朝8時から夜7時まで行われて､森の中のコテージで色々な活動を楽しみました。私たちはグループに分かれて、ゲームをしたり、友達への感謝の手紙を書いたり、焚き火でスモアクッキーを作ったりしました。長い1日でしたが、多くの貴重な経験ができました。

At the end of the month, I had a two-week spring break. I spent my time hanging out with friends, studying at the library, and playing with my host brothers. I also had some homework for ELD class, which involved reading a book and completing some assignments. When I first arrived in Canada, I struggled to read and understand even short instructions. However, I can now read English books and comprehend their stories. This progress surprised and delighted me, as I could truly feel my reading skills improving.

3月の終わりには、2週間の春休みがありました。私は友達と遊んだり図書館で勉強したり、ホストブラザーと遊んだりして過ごしました。ELD（英語）のクラスで春休みの宿題が出され､本を読んで問題に答えるものでした。カナダに来たばかりの時は短い英語の文章でさえも読んで理解するのが大変でしたが、今は英語の本を読んでストーリーを理解できることがとても嬉しくて､リーディ ング力が上がっていることを実感しました。
