カナダ留学だより 9月
9月からカナダに10か月留学している高校2年生からお便りが届きました。
Hi, I’m Hiyori. It has been 1 month since I came to Canada, and I’m getting used to school. The classes that I take this semester are Food, pre-calculus, marketing, psychology, and active living. In marketing class, we have many opportunities to do presentations. It’s hard work for me to make slides and talk to everyone in English, but I am doing my best by asking my teacher lots of questions and getting help from my friends.

カナダに来て1ヶ月が経ち、学校生活にも慣れてきました。今学期に私が取っている授業は、フード、数学、マーケティング、心理学、体育です。マーケティングのクラスではプレゼンをする機会が多くあります。英語で調べて資料を作り、クラスで話すのはとても大変ですが、先生や友達に助けてもらいながら頑張っています。

A few days after school started, some announcements were made for club members to join. I joined the theater production that makes stage decorations, costumes, and supports the theater club. In the first meeting, we had the recreation and played some games. The actual activities are yet to come, but I am already excited.
学校が始まって数日してから、クラブ活動の募集がありました。私はシアタープロダクションという舞台の裏方の仕事をするクラブに入りました。最初のミーティングではレクリエーションやゲームをしました。本格的な活動はこれからですが、すでにすごく楽しみです。
I think Victoria is pretty similar to Shizuoka because there is a lot of greenery and it is a peaceful and comfortable place to live. On the weekend, I go to the public library to study and do my homework, or hang out with my friends. I often go out and eat lunch with Mexican friends who became friends in international orientation. Also my Taiwanese friend took me to a Korean chicken restaurant that my friend recommended last week. It was very good and I’m so glad to talk to her a lot.
ビクトリアには緑がたくさんあり、のどかで過ごしやすく、静岡によく似ていると思います。週末は図書館に行って勉強や宿題をしたり、友達と遊んだりして過ごしています。学校のオリエンテーションで仲良くなったメキシコ人の友達とはよく休日にお昼を食べに行きます。また、先週は台湾人の友達に有名なチキンのお店に連れて行ってもらいました。たくさん話せてとても楽しかったです。

Right now, there are many times when I can’t understand or speak well, but everyone is so kind and explains things over and over again, so I’m grateful every day. There are also some Japanese students, and they always support me. I will also do my best to live up to everyone’s support.
今はまだ､英語が聞き取れない場面があったり、うまく話せないことも多いですが、みんな何度も説明してくれたりとても親切で、毎日感謝でいっぱいです。学校には数人日本人の子もいて、いつも助けてもらっています。私もみんなの応援に応えられるよう精一杯頑張ります。
