This is the last of my monthly study abroad letters. The past month made me realize once again that my study abroad life is coming to an end.

私からの毎月の留学便りもこれで最後になります。留学生活が終わってしまうことを改めて実感させた1ヶ月でした。

From the end of May to early June, there was voting to decide the student council for the next year. I helped my friend with a video as she was campaigning to become a member of the student council. Unlike schools in Japan, they used Instagram to ask for votes and they prepared pizza, snacks, and drinks to those who voted. I felt a sense of Canadian-ness.

5月末から6月上旬にかけて次の年の生徒会を決める投票があります。私の友達も生徒会の一員になれるよう活動していたので動画の手伝いをしました。日本の学校とは違い投票を呼びかけるためインスタグラムを活用したり、投票してくれる人にはピザやお菓子、飲み物を配るなどという活動もしていてカナダらしさを感じました。

The ten months of my study abroad are now in their final month. I spent the past month being grateful for all the people who have supported me. It is sad to leave behind the friends, family, and teachers I met here, but I believe we will meet again someday. My friends and teachers told me that they thought I was a quiet kid and really shy at first, but now I have grown and I can use English to joke. I tended to be shy when I met someone at first, but now I can have small talks with store clerks and I think I have become more outgoing.

約10ヶ月の留学も最後の月になりました。これまで本当に多くの人にお世話になったことに感謝しながら過ごした1ヶ月でした。やはりここで出会った友達やファミリー、先生方と離れてしまうのは寂しいですが、いつかまた会えることを信じています。友達や先生方に最初はもの静かな子だと思っていたのに、今では英語で冗談も言えるようになる程成長したと言ってもらいました。初対面だとどうしても内気になってしまうのですが、今ではお店の店員さんと世間話をしたりすることもできるようになり性格の面でも明るくなれたと思っています。

I am still inexperienced, but through studying abroad, I have grown a lot both in daily life and in English ability, thanks to everyone who has helped me. I hope to use the experiences of these ten months in my future life and to be able to help someone else with what I have learned.

まだまだ未熟な私ですが、留学を通して私自身も生活面や英語の面で多く成長し、成長させてもらえたと感じています。
この10ヶ月間の経験をこれからの人生に、そして誰かのためになれるように生かしていきたいと思います。
