カナダ留学だより ウイニペグ2月②
Hi! This is Hana, from Winnipeg❄️
Every February, people across Canada participate in Black History Month events and festivities that honour the legacy of Black people in Canada and their communities.
The 2024 theme for Black History Month is: “Black Excellence: A Heritage to Celebrate, a Future to Build”. This theme celebrates the rich past and present contributions and accomplishments of Black people in Canada, while aspiring to embrace new opportunities for the future.
My host sister is in Black Student Union Club (BSU for short) at her school. In that club, the members will discuss about their country and they seem to be deepening their understanding of each other's cultures through some board games and cooking.
There are lots of foreigners in Japan too. I hope that Japanese schools will give students more opportunities to learn about the cultures of countries around the world.
毎年 2月にはカナダ中の人々が Black History Month(黒人歴史月間)のイベントやお祭りに参加し、カナダの黒人とそのコミュニティの遺産を称えます。今年のテーマはBlack Excellence: A Heritage to Celebrate; A Future to Buildで、カナダの黒人の豊かな過去と現在の貢献と業績を称え、将来に向けて新たな機会を受け入れることを目指しています。
ホストシスターは学校でBlack Student Union Club（黒人学生同盟クラブ）に参加しています。そのクラブでは、自分の出身国について話し合ったり、ゲームや料理を通して、お互いの文化の理解を深め合っているそうです。
日本にも沢山の国の人が住んでいます。日本の学校でも、世界の国の文化を学ぶ機会がもっと増えると良いと思いました。

On February 14th, we had my host sister's nephew's birthday party! My host mother made him birthday cake and dinner. We celebrated with all the family. He loves Cars, and he got some toy cars and a radio controlled car. I gave him toy cars and picture of Cars. I was happy to see that he was happy.
Also, my host sister gave birth to a baby girl❤︎ The newborn baby is very small, but she makes everyone around her smile and we can get energy from her. I felt like she is truly a color of energy, "red'', as a baby.
2月14日は、ホストシスターの甥の誕生日パーティが行われました。ホストマザーがバースデーケーキや料理を作って、家族みんなでお祝いしました。Carsが大好きでラジコンやミニカーなどをもらい、とても嬉しそうでした。私もおもちゃやCarsの絵をプレゼントしました。喜んでくれているのを見て、私もとても嬉しくなりました。
また、ホストシスターが女の子の赤ちゃんを産みました。生まれたての赤ちゃんはとっても小さいですが、周りのみんなを笑顔にしてくれ元気をもらえます。本当にエネルギーの色「赤」ちゃんなんだと改めて感じました。

Last weekend, I went to eat hotpot with my friends. One of Filipino friends had a birthday, so we went to buy presents, and we got bubble tea before we went home. We all celebrated her birthday.
Also, everyone can speak not only English, but also many languages such as Thai, Tagalog, and Chinese. I was also taught other languages.
Since coming to Canada, I have made more friends from various countries, and I feel that my languages are expanding a lot!
週末に、友達と一緒に鍋料理を食べに出掛けました。フィリピン人の友達が誕生日だったので、プレゼントを買いに行ったり帰りにタピオカを飲んだりして、みんなで一緒に祝いました。
また、みんなは英語だけでなくタイ語やタガログ語、中国語など、沢山の言語を話す事が出来るので、私も教えてもらいました。
カナダに来て色々な国の友達が増え、英語だけでなく私の言語の幅も少しずつ広がってきているような気がします。
The number of snowy days has increased, and the temperature has dropped further. Spring in Canada is still far away. I would like to continue to take care of my health.
雪の日が増え、気温も下がってきました。カナダの春はまだまだ遠いです。引き続き体調管理に気をつけて過ごしていきたいと思います。
