Christmas is coming! We made icing cookies for Christmas. We made some ginger bread men, and a ginger bread house! I have never seen them in real life. The house has been decorated even more and we are enjoying Christmas. 　

12月になりました。もうすぐクリスマスです！クリスマスに向けて、家族みんなでアイシングクッキーを作りました。ジンジャーブレッドマン（人形の形のジンジャーブレッド）やお菓子の家など、絵本や映画でしか見たことのないようなものがたくさんありました。家の飾り付けもさらに増え、クリスマスを楽しんでいます。

At the beginning of December, my host sister had her birthday! We had a big party and many relatives gathered and celebrated together. My host mother made a big cake and we sang the birthday song. 　
As her birthday present, we went to see the movie "The Boy and the Heron". It became dubbed in English and it started to be shown in theaters. I was happy because it was a movie I wanted to see too. We bought some big popcorns and some juice and had fun watching it.

12月のはじめにホストシスターの誕生日がありました！親戚が集まり一緒にお祝いしました。マザーがケーキを作り、みんなでバースデイの歌を歌い一緒に食べました。 　
シスターへのプレゼントとして、ジブリ作品の「君たちはどう生きるか」の英語の吹き替え版を一緒に見に行きました。私も見たい映画でしたので嬉しかったです。大きなポップコーンとジュースを買い、楽しく観ることができました。 　 　

In Youth in Philanthropy, we started to contact the companies that were present at the conference in November. We decided to visit them in January next year. Each member sends emails to the companies we have researched before, and communicates with the companies that respond. After they respond, we decide on a specific date to meet them.
Also, on Tuesday and Wednesday, we had Candy Cane Gram in the school commons. Candy canes are given to friends as a token of gratitude or friendship with a message attached. We sold them for $1 each. Proceeds will be donated to local charities. It was great to see so many students and teachers participating. 　

Youth in Philanthropy（慈善事業）では、11月に開催された会議に出ていた企業とコンタクトを取り、1月に実際に企業を訪問することが決まりました。部員が各自調べた企業にメールを送り、返信があった企業と具体的に訪問する日程を決めています。また、火曜日と水曜日に、Candy Cane Gramをやりました。Candy cane Gramでは、友達などに感謝や友情のしるしとしてメッセージ付きでcandy cane（ステッキの形のキャンディー）を贈ります。これをひとつ1ドルとして販売しました。売上は地域の慈善団体に寄付されます。多くの生徒や先生が参加してくださって嬉しかったです。

I joined Book Club from this month. We read and recommend books with a teacher and members at the school library. I borrowed a book from my teacher’s recommendations. We are planning to talk about the books for the next meeting, so I will read it during winter vacation. 　 　

今月から「読書部」の活動にも参加しています。顧問の先生や部員と一緒に、好きな本やおすすめの本について図書室で話しました。私は先生が好きだと言っていた本を一冊借りて読みました。次の活動の日に感想などを話す予定なので、しっかり読んでおこうと思います。

Winter vacation is coming next week. We are going to travel to Florida! I’m really looking forward to going. 　 　

来週から冬休みです。年末年始はホストファミリーと一緒に旅行に行く予定です。今からとても楽しみです。
